Behind the Noise is a ‘real world’ music and business education course developed by Scotland’s Music Hall of Fame, Creative Scotland and The Doghouse (Studios). The programme aims to inspire and engage with senior school pupils who wish to gain an understanding of the variety of employment opportunities and career pathways that exist within the music industry. Behind the Noise offers a perspective across the music industry from music performance, song writing and sound production to event management, further education courses and work experience placements.

Behind the Noise is delivered by music industry professionals with proven track records at the highest levels of the industry. After a series of workshops, rehearsals and recording sessions, the project culminates in a live show where every aspect of the event from performance to technical support to merchandising to accounting has had young people at the core of its decision making.

This project is interdisciplinary in nature and helps develop young people in the 4 capacities of Curriculum for Excellence as well as impacting on Experiences and Outcomes across a variety of subject areas including Expressive Arts, Health and Wellbeing, Literacy, Numeracy, Social Studies and Technologies.
