The 2016 COSLA Excellence Awards have honoured 9 Scottish councils and their partners for outstanding quality of service to the public.
West Dunbartonshire, Stirling and Clackmannanshire, City of Edinburgh, Angus, and East Lothian Councils all took first place in their award categories. East Ayrshire Council scooped the Chairman’s Award, while Inverclyde achieved the Excellent People, Excellent Outcomes Award. Dumfries and Galloway Council picked up both the SOLACE Best Team Award and the Scottish Government Award for Delivering Excellence.
COSLA President Councillor David O’Neill, who chaired the judging panel, described the entries for the awards this year as inspiring:
“The COSLA Excellence Awards showcase and celebrate the very best of Scottish Local Government. Our winners sum up what Scottish councils are all about- innovative and joined up services, delivered by hard working staff, that are changing lives every day.”
“At every stage of the Awards it’s been clear to me that councils and their partners are breaking new ground in rising to the challenges that they face.
“Now more than ever before, it’s vital that we build on real life success stories like these. The 2016 COSLA Excellence Awards are helping to do just that, and on the evidence so far, the future of Scotland’s local services looks very exciting.”
