How to Apply

PLEASE NOTE that entries for the 2012 Awards are  now closed.   Keeping checking our site for progress about  this year’s record number of applications.

The COSLA Excellence Awards provide a unique opportunity to highlight the work going on in your community by celebrating projects which are dynamic and innovative; which could help realise deliver better outcomes for communities; have the potential to be rolled out across the country and beyond, and make a real and meaningful difference to people’s quality of life and the communities we live in.

Your application can be about large or small projects, but above all else you will need to show how the work you are doing is ground-breaking, delivering best value, and securing real improvement in your organisation’s capacity to improve outcomes for people in your community- so make sure you tell us how you are contributing to the bigger picture.

Results are important, but the 2012 Excellence Awards have been designed to focus on projects that are innovative and where results therefore cannot be quantified in the traditional ways.  That means ensuring a clear business case for the potential outcomes that your project will deliver.  Therefore, while the awards continue to recognise the impact of well established projects,  our priority is to champion applications that demonstrate how new thinking is being translated into plans and action that can help your organisation respond to current and future challenges.  In particular, we want to use the awards to showcase and share how local government is delivering excellence in adversity through genuine innovation in how it responds to changing demand and budgets, in championing early intervention and prevention, and in bringing new perspectives to old problems.   Above all, we are looking for a  clear outline of how the project has an impact in your organisation, why it is innovative and represents best practice, and why it should be considered for a COSLA Excellence Award.
